It’s hard to believe that around this time last week, the 2017 Golden Tee World Championship was just getting started. A great weekend was had by all, lots of food and drinks were consumed and tons of Golden Tee was played. Congratulations again to the 2017 World Champion Mark Stenmark. You can read the full recap of his victory weekend on LIVEWIRE.
But, the trackball of the Golden Tee world keeps spinning, even after such a tremendous event like the Worlds.
That brings us to June. Power Events is continuing their national tour with the 2017 Windy City Open in Chicago on June 22-25. After a very strong start with successful tournaments in Florida and St. Louis, we must ask ourselves, what kind of excitement will Chicago bring to the table?
This year’s event is being held at a new location, JL’s Pizza and Sports Bar in Palatine, IL. We’d also like to let everyone know that Barb Letos, the wonderful manager from the previous location, will be taking care of the players at the new location!
The tournament weekend gets kicked off on Thursday, June 22, with a Closest-to-the-Pin event and a best two-out-of-three Money Shot event. The entry fee for both events is $10 each and they will be double-elimination.
On Friday, focus will shift to the handicap tournament. It will begin roughly at 7:30 p.m. and be single-elimination. Entry is $25, and you must have a valid GT handicap to enter. Players who finish in the top 25 percent of the handicap tournament will win their entry into the tournament’s main event!
The Windy City Open’s main event will begin at noon. Tournament entry is $100. There is also a hole-in-one side pot that costs $20 to enter.
On Sunday, double-elimination match play will decide the winners of both Gold and purple brackets as we work to crown the 2017 Windy City Open Champion.
Will we see another every-man step up his game like Kevin O’Connor did in St. Louis? Will World Champion Mark Stenmark start off a new undefeated streak? Head to Chicago during the last week of June and find out yourself! You never know how well you might play until you hand hits the trackball!
