“My first round of Golden Tee was actually in the basement of my Uncle's house when I was a young kid - he had an old GT Tournament edition cabinet with 3 courses on it. My cousin Jake and I would spend hours battling.”
This is the origin story of the entertainer known as Joe Massara. Joe is currently building a legacy that will undoubtedly put him in the discussion for the “Mount Rushmore” of Golden Tee.
Over the past several years, he’s accumulated an impressive list of accolades, including two Player of the Year victories, two second-place finishes at the World Championship, and championships at prestigious events like the St. Louis Open and, most recently, the Florida Open.
Though Joe humbly admits that winning the Florida Open was an unexpected achievement, it was one he seized with both hands. The opportunity to attend came up at the last minute, but Joe’s skill and determination showed in spades.
Despite Bryce Aubart’s incredible run at this event, including a King of the Hill victory over Joe, Joe made an epic comeback in the finals, draining hole-out after hole-out to claim victory.
What makes Joe’s victory in Florida even more impressive is that it was his first time attending the tournament. He typically competes in just two to three events each year, making this win even more remarkable.
When he’s not competing, Joe enjoys spending time with his family and indulging in video games. He’s also a skilled handyman, often tackling home projects with ease.
Joe’s more serious approach to Golden Tee began in 2011 and 2012 when he realized there were real prizes to be won. That’s when he transformed into a force in the daily contests, consistently dominating the leaderboard.
Asked about his strategy for the daily contests, Joe explains, “It’s a lot of trial and error. The key is finding shots you can consistently repeat with the highest possible accuracy to maximize your success.”
Joe’s unique approach has made him one of the most well-rounded competitors in the game. His ability to pick the right shots and execute them with pinpoint precision is a skill most Golden Tee players may never master.
Beyond being a competitor, Joe is an entertainer and an inspiration to the Golden Tee community. Though he’s risen to prominence, he knows how quickly the game can humble even the best. With a bright future ahead, Joe is carving out his place among the legends of Golden Tee, and there’s no telling where his journey will take him next.
