On Deck: The Missouri Open
Power Events’ Marquee Event Kicks Off on April 19th, and There’s Still Time to Sign Up

The 2012 Missouri Open has garnered the reputation of being the game’s best attended and most competitive event over the past few years. The field is large, as is the money at stake, but this tournament is more of a grand celebration of the game more than anything else.

Make no mistake about it; Golden Tee’s best players will be in attendance, gunning for a piece of the top prize and the $5,000 added into the prize pool by Power Events. But the Missouri Open is much more than that and if you’ve been looking to get a taste of what a GT tournament is all about, this would be the place the start.

Redbirds Sports Cafe and Billiards will play host to the event on Thursday, April 19th through Sunday, April 22nd. Although the main tournament is the feature event, it’s far from the only thing taking place.

Festivities will kick off with the CTTP tournament that will begin at 8:00 pm on Thursday night. It costs just $10 to enter this double elimination warm-up. On Friday, they will run a handicapped tournament that will start at 7:00 pm. Entry into this event is just $25, and 25% of the field that participates will receive FREE entry into the main tournament.

On Saturday the main event will get underway at noon with a five-course qualifier. This will determine which players make the main bracket and also set up seeding for match play. On Sunday this bracket will play out and by the end of the weekend the 2012 Missouri Open champion will be crowned! Entry into the main event is $100, and you’ll receive a special Golden Tee Player Card if you participate (seen on right).

As if you needed more reason to attend the tournament, here’s a few more. Power Events will have PowerPutt LIVE up and ready to be played for anyone looking to check out IT’s latest game. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’ll be able to iron out your trackball putting on this mini-golf game that is currently making its way around the country.

Worried about hotels and/or lodging prices? Have no fear. There are three hotels that are all walking distance from the bar which means you won’t have to worry about a lengthy commute, cab fees or making someone be the DD. Plus, they are very affordable.

And for those of you that cannot make it, there’s good news for you also. For the first time ever, Power Events will be streaming live matches online. This means you’ll be able to watch some of the day’s biggest matches on your computer, as they happen. We’re very excited to this new feature in action, and we’ll be sure to point you in the right direction once that time comes.

Interested in signing up? There’s still time to do just that. Visit the official Missouri Open tournament thread on Underdogsports.net to reserve your Tee time and for further information on the weekend and accommodations.

We hope to see you all there. Check out Power Events’ website for more information and stay tuned to Goldentee.com for more.
