Jeff Lannen is well known in the Golden Tee community under his in-game nickname "Lemon." He is a multi time National Golden Tee Tour champion and most recently, claimed victory as the 2025 Wisconsin Open Champion. Jeff first discovered Golden Tee in 2001 while working at a restaurant. His co-worker at the time was Brandon Robinson, a podium finisher on the National #GoldenTee Tour. One night after work, the two decided to try out the Golden Tee machine at their location—and they were instantly hooked. From then on, they competed against each other every night.
Jeff’s journey into tournament play was a natural progression. He began by conquering the leaderboards in the game’s divisions before discovering the world of tournament play. His first tournament experience, around 2002 or 2003 in Chicago, left a lasting impression on him. Surrounded by the top pros, Jeff learned from them firsthand and realized he’d need to elevate his game to compete at the highest level.
Jeff’s dedication to the game soon paid off. He began performing better in tournaments, eventually securing his first tournament win at the Players Charity Championship in Chicago in 2010. This victory marked the start of a remarkable streak, eventually earning himself the title of Top Gun Player of the Year in 2012 and winning the next two tournament stops. During this hot streak, Jeff went a perfect 17-0 in bracket play.
His record for the longest win streak stood until 2019 when Golden Tee legend Mark Stenmark surpassed him with a 35-0 record. Nevertheless, Jeff’s success on the National #GoldenTee Tour is undeniable, with four first-place finishes, three second-place finishes, and three third-place finishes. He remains a formidable threat in every tournament he enters, known for his competitive nature and making opponents earn every advantage.
Jeff’s drive and consistency have kept him among the top competitors for over a decade—longevity is an understatement when it comes to his Golden Tee career.
Outside of Golden Tee, Jeff is a devoted family man and an active coach for his children’s sports teams. He enjoys grilling when the weather allows and is an avid gamer, often enjoying video games with his kids.
Despite his busy schedule, Jeff plans to continue attending a few National #GoldenTee Tour events each year, along with the World Championship and Player of the Year tournament. One thing is clear: Jeff Lannen is curating a lasting Golden Tee legacy, one event at a time.
