If you talk to a long-time player about the NIV tournaments—which stands for “Not in Vegas,” and there’s a long story behind that—chances are you’ll be greeted with smiles and applause.
Through updates and installments of Golden Tee, The NIV has been a staple. And now, tournament mastermind Jefe Alums alongside with Power Events, will continue this tradition down in Richmond at the one and only Baja Bean on October 2 through October 5.
Let’s start with the pig roast and free beer, which makes me hungry just typing. Signup for this event and you’ll enjoy free beer and a free lunch buffet on Saturday. There is also a free poker tournament with prizes, and yes, a pig roast on Sunday.
Before we even get to the event, here’s where you register. (Because, be honest, you’re thinking about it now.)
And yes, there will also be Golden Tee. Power Events is the best in the business at running live events, and they will carry this tradition to Virginia. What makes this tournament even more spectacular is that it will be the first event to be played on Golden Tee 2015 courses.
Looking for tips? Watch some of the best players in the world figure them out. Your buddies won’t know what hit 'em.
The weekend begins on Thursday, October 2 with a Closest-to-the-Pin tournament. Entry is only $10. On Friday, the handicap tournament will take place (entry is $25) and literally everyone in the room has a chance to win.
Saturday will kick off the main event with a five-course qualifier. Entry into the tournament is $125, although this includes the food and drinks mentioned above along with a t-shirt and a special Golden Tee Player Card.
On Sunday, when the main bracket is set, double-elimination match play will begin and a champion will be crowned.
To signup, NIVwhatever.com, although walkups are certainly welcome. Whether this will be your tenth NIV or your first, do not miss it.
What a weekend it will be.
