The first tournament to be played on Golden Tee 2012 is suddenly just days away.

The NIV 9 will take place on October 6th through the 9th at Baja Bean in Richmond, Virginia. The Bean - which has a ton of GT history and has played host to plenty of tourneys in the past decade - is a fitting spot to bring in a new year.

In terms of PEGT Tour implications, this NIV 9 marks the fifth Power Events Tour event on the 2011 docket and the last stop before the final Dallas tournament in December.

For those of you that have been looking to make your first Golden Tee tournament or perhaps you’re just looking for tips on how to play the new courses, THIS is the place to do just that. Free meals, poker tournaments, giveaways and other items are also included when you sign up for this fantastic weekend, which is just a few more reasons to attend.

As for the event, here’s the rundown.

On Thursday, the weekend will get underway with a closest-to-the-pin tourney. Entry into this double-elimination event is only $10, and it’s a fantastic way to kick off the festivities. Friday night, a match play handicapped tournament will take place and entry into this event is $25.

The main event will then get rolling at noon on Saturday with a five-course qualifier to determine the championship bracket. Entry into this event is $125. Once complete, the top 32 players will then duke it out on Sunday in match play until the NIV 9 champion is crowned. Those that don’t qualify in the top 32 will play in the purple bracket, which will also finish up late Sunday afternoon or early Sunday evening.

Play With a Pro is back and will take place on Friday afternoon before the weekend kicks in the gear.
