For more than a decade, the Golden Tee Design-a-Hole Contest has asked a simple question: if you could create your dream golf hole, what would it look like? Where would you start? How would you tap into your Golden Tee knowledge and creativity to create a unique, challenging and enjoyable design?
You have answered time and time again for more than 10 years—submitting thousands of ideas into one of the game’s staple events. From the weird to the extreme to the downright brilliant, you’ve used colored pencils or crayons or computer programs to bring your idea to life.
This year, we are once again asking the same question. The 2019 Design-a-Hole Contest, sponsored by Callaway Golf, will transform one dedicated Golden Tee fan into a designer—putting one incredible golf idea into Golden Tee 2019.
Our winner will also receive their very own Golden Tee Home Edition—a $4,000 top prize on top of the joy that comes with becoming a part of the most storied arcade game ever made.
How to Submit
The very concept of the contest is both simple and familiar: create your dream golf—any par-3, par-4 or par-5—and that hole could become a playable hole in Golden Tee 2019.
Between February 26 and April 15, you can submit as many par-3s, 4s and 5s as you like to design-a-hole@itsgames.com.
You can submit one grand idea or dozens of grand ideas. You can draw them, CAD them, color them, pen them, explain them—however you feel your design would be best explained and showcased is up to you.
Draw it, build it, name it and then submit it. If you do that, you have a chance at being a part of and winning the game you love.
Want to mail us your designs the good ol’ fashion way? You can do that, too. Just send them to the address below:

How our Winner Will be Decided
Once the submission period of the Design-a-Hole Contest closes, our prestigious Design-a-Hole judges—a group led by course designer and Golden Tee co-creator Jim Zielinski—will go to work.
Over the weeks that follow, these judges will sift through each and every design submitted. They will analyze distances and concepts and originality and how well each design could translate into the game.
On April 30, we will reveal the first Design-a-Hole finalist on LIVEWIRE, Instagram and Twitter and the Golden Tee Facebook Page. For the next two weeks, we will reveal all 10 finalists and allow the many fans of this game to have their say on which designs they like best.
Whether you submit or not, your feedback is critical. This will ultimately shape the next step of the process—when the judges narrow down a group of 10 to 3.
And on Friday, May 4, we will narrow this group down one last time—crowning this year’s champion.
The Stakes
Our winner will receive their very own Golden Tee Home Edition, 2019 update and a year of online play. This individual will also watch their idea transform into a playable hole in Golden Tee 2019—a design that will be celebrated and cursed at in the many years to come.
But that’s not all. Callaway Golf, friends of Golden Tee, will partner with the Design-a-Hole Contest once again, providing prizes for our winner and all finalists.
Beyond the monstrous top prize, all finalists will receive a Golden Tee t-shirt, a custom Design-a-Hole finalist Player Card, a box of Callaway Chrome Soft Truvis Red Golf Balls as well as the following:
1st Place: Golden Tee Home Edition
2nd Place: Callaway Rogue Driver ($499 value) and a $150 Golden Tee Gift Card
3rd Place: Odyssey Works Putter and a $125 Golden Tee Gift Card
4th-10th Place: $50 Golden Tee Gift Card
So… Any Parting Advice?
Of course, and we’ll have plenty more to come.
The beauty of this contest is that you have full control in what you design—how hard, how easy, how short, how long, etc. You are the architect.
The Golden Tee judges love creativity. They love thought put into a design—the risk vs. reward aspects that make a great golf hole. They love originality. But they also love simplicity, and finding a balance of creativity and playability is ultimately what they’re looking for.
Is this distance possible? What about elevation? Imagine yourself playing the designs you create and if it would translate into Golden Tee, because that’s precisely what will happen if you win.
You don’t need to be an artist. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. Just dream up your golf holes, explain them (if you like), name them and send them to design-a-hole@itsgames.com.
Have fun with this. You know the game, and show us what you would love to see. And if your idea is just right, your Golden Tee life will change forever.
