We can only assume that the intent here was not hit the drive off the rock directly ahead, have the ball travel many, many feet directly up in the air—like some sort of helicopter taking off—and then have it eventually fall, after some tremendous hang time, bounce once and hop gracefully into the cup.

Or maybe that was the plan. If so, it’s a job well done.

More than likely, however, is the reality that this latest ‘Shot of the Year’ candidate—a once-in-a-lifetime kind of virtual golfing moment—was stupid, ridiculous, brilliant blind luck.

No matter why or how it came to be, we’re glad it did.
