The Golden Tee Home Edition is going online.
This, of course, isn’t breaking news. We’ve talked about this transition since the end of 2012, but the juicy details have been limited up until now. With a target launch date closing in, however, now is the time.
Here’s what you need to know when it comes to going online.
When: Although there’s no firm date as of now, the Golden Tee Home Edition will go online late March, most likely the final week.
What: Stat tracking, Glory Play, and Stats Play will be available to you in the home. You will not be allowed to participate in Prize Play or CTTP LIVE, but every other online game mode will be open for play.
You will be able to use your Player Card—just like normal—and also track your progress and results online. The Glory Play contests that you participate in won’t be limited to the home, and you’ll compete against players from various locations around the world.
On top of this, you’ll have full access to the entire catalog of high-performance clubs, balls and Golden Tees, although you won’t have to purchase more when you run out. These values will be maxed each game, which means water balls won’t hurt as much.
Clothing achievements will indeed make their way to the home, and you will receive virtual items for various gameplay accolades. These wardrobe changes will be permanent additions to your virtual golfer.
And yes, you can upload all Golden Tee Great Shots from your home game to YouTube.
Outside of these online-specific features, players will have access to all 40 LIVE courses ever created along with a special Closest-to-the-Pin game mode.
How: All Golden Tee Home Editions will be online ready. A card reader has been added, and games will connect to the Internet through an Ethernet connection. There are various wireless options available, which is something we will discuss in the future.
If you have purchased a Home Edition prior to the card reader being added, have no fear. There are various ways to upgrade your game in relatively simple fashion.
An online subscription service will be necessary in order to participate in online play, which gets us to the part you’ve probably already skipped to.
How Much: The Golden Tee Home Edition retails for $3,999. In terms of the subscription service, the cost of being online will be $9.99 a month, aka the cost of only two Golden Tee games. You can also purchase a full year of online for the price of $99.99, and save some money over the course of the year.
Be sure to contact us to inquire about various monthly specials taking place, and tune in to LIVEWIRE or the Golden Tee Home Edition website to see the latest.
