Mike Muse's journey with Calloway's is a great example of passion and dedication shaping a local hotspot into a significant player in the Golden Tee community. Opening Calloway’s in 1998, Mike and his brother quickly embraced the burgeoning Golden Tee scene, with their first cabinet making an immediate splash. Their commitment to the game created a loyal following of around 15 regulars who frequent the venue daily.

Mike's enthusiasm for Golden Tee extended beyond local play. His visit to the Last NiV in 2019 was a turning point, showcasing the competitive circuit's vibrant atmosphere and solidifying his ambition to bring a national event to Calloway’s. The support of influential figures like Jeff from The Bean, who had a personal connection through Mike’s brother Bill,(they played football together in College at William and Mary) was instrumental in making this dream a reality. Jeff's involvement, alongside Chris Longino's relentless effort and Steve Sobel's faith in Calloway’s, paved the way for this transition.  Mike especially gives credit to Chris Longino in his efforts to bring this vision to fruition.

The Clash at Calloway’s is known for its intimate, yet energetic atmosphere. Although the venue might be compact, it compensates with its enthusiastic community and willingness to innovate. In 2023, they broke new ground by hosting the inaugural Seniors tournament for players aged 55 and up. 

This year, they're upping the ante with the first-ever National Golden Tee Tour Speedrun event, open to all competitors. Chris Longino, a key figure in the Golden Tee community, has expressed his excitement about the speed tournament's potential, inspired by its engaging nature at the World Championship.

Chris states, “From my experience at the World Championship, I saw something different when it came to the speed tournament. It was exciting and engaging. I knew then it was something I wanted to try for the Carolina Clash.”
