Andy Haas, Paul Luna, Christopher Wengler, Evan Gossett
The Big Gun bracket delivered the weekend’s most emotional and inspiring moments. A match between Paul Tayloe and Eddie Godfrey went into overtime, with Tayloe displaying extraordinary sportsmanship by insisting the game continue after a controversial putt. Godfrey and Tayloe battled it out which led to overtime on Saraha Dunes. On the back 9, Godfrey’s uphill putt came up just short from 74ft while Tayloe’s 68ft putt having the same line went in easily. At this point, we all thought the game was over. Tayloe would not accept the win because he believed Godfrey’s putt was just as makable. Tayloe insisted they continue to play for the next lost stroke in sudden death. Godfrey ended up winning the match a few holes later. To quote Eddie Godfrey on the situation, “You [Paul Tayloe] showed true sportsmanship to make that call at such a critical point in the match. You have my utmost respect. You’re another example of why this community is so great.” Godfrey ultimately won the match and praising Tayloe’s integrity and character.
Top Gun winner, Paul Luna
In the Big Gun POTY finals, Paul Luna solidified his place in Golden Tee history with an undefeated run through the bracket. His two-stroke victory over Chris Wengler on Bahama Isles earned him the prestigious Stenmark Trophy. Luna’s heartfelt message of gratitude to the Golden Tee community reflected the passion that defines this community. “I [Paul Luna] want to thank all my fans for your encouragement. The support that I feel from the Golden Tee community is really humbling and just know that I love all of y’all, even if I don’t show it at times.”
