Shady Acres No. 1

Trees. That’s the first thing you’ll notice about Shady Acres. The fairways are surrounded by bark barriers, and this is apparent before you take your first shot off the first tee.

While there’s nothing to be alarmed with here, there have also been much easier first holes in Golden Tee.

The trees can be obstruction if you aren’t careful, although you’ll have to hit your tee shot well right for this to become an issue. More than likely, however, you’ll have a shot without much wind at a flat green.

Be aggressive and give yourself a chance at going in. If the pin is up, use backspin. If it’s in the middle to back portion of the green, use roll.

The looks won’t get any better than this. Hopefully—if all goes well—you can make the most of it.

At the very least, don’t par. There will be ample challenges ahead, and walking to Hole 2 disappointed could be the sign of things to come. Make your putt, and move along.
