Danny Scurlock enjoys the competitive spirit of Golden Tee and is always striving to improve his game. He values the many friendships he’s made over the years—the GT community truly feels like one big family.
Danny began playing Golden Tee more regularly in 2009 and attended his first tournament in 2011 at Gatsby’s. That event featured Play with a Pro, where Danny teamed up with Kinz and his friend Dave played with Haas. It was an unforgettable experience, and Danny met many people there and are still close friends today.
He competed in the Seniors event in 2024. While he didn’t play his best that weekend, he still had a great time. At the 2025 Carolina Clash, Danny didn’t qualify as well as he hoped due to limited rounds on the new courses, but he made a key move before his first Sunday match—switching to Stouts after playing with Cosmos since they were released.
The senior bracket was stacked with seasoned competitors determined to put up a fight, but Danny was ready for the challenge. In the opening round, he defeated National GT Tour regular Kelly Ambrose, building early confidence in his game.
Danny continued his winning streak by taking down both Pete Schmidt and Jeff Poole. But the real test came in the winners’ semifinals against Michael Hall—a hard-fought battle that went into sudden death overtime. Danny pulled off the clutch victory and advanced to the King of the Hill match, where he defeated Brian Hollinsworth to secure his spot in the finals.
Only Jody Palmer remained between Danny and the senior bracket championship. Danny’s strategy to focus on consistent play paid off, as he claimed the title with a 4-stroke victory in the grand finals. Even though he was at a disadvantage on some setups, he minimized mistakes and stayed consistent.
Winning the Seniors division was exciting—but earning the Worlds pass meant even more.
Northwest Indiana doesn’t really have a big Golden Tee scene, according to Danny. He plays most often at Leroy’s in Porter, Indiana, alongside Ben whenever their schedules line up. Local players are pretty spread out, so group games are rare. Danny would like to shout out to Ben Vania, Brian Sharp, AG, and Larry Farris.
For Danny, traveling to tournaments is always a highlight—seeing friends, competing, and doing something he loves all weekend long. Looking ahead, Danny’s Golden Tee journey is all about continuing to improve, meeting new people, building friendships, and making more main brackets.
