For the 13th year in a row, our design-a-hole contest is ready to roll! Every year we receive all kinds of designs from drawings with crayons, computer-generated programs, and even sketched on a bar napkin. The ideas to create your own hole and ways to put it on paper are endless. Whatever way you can get your idea into a design and email to us is acceptable for a chance to win!
It's time we throw a small curveball at you designers! This year we are asking you to design holes based on ocean or desert type courses. Remember you can submit as many ideas that you come up with. Whether your design-a-hole is a short par-3 or a long par-5, there are endless ideas for course holes. Make your greens surrounded by water or sand traps, stay dry with a hole with no water or create a hole where you need to hit a full around trees or hazards. Find the inner GT player in yourself and let it out by designing a hole for Golden Tee 2021!
The rules haven't changed from the 2020 Design-a-Hole creation. The prizes might have changed slightly but we are still giving a Golden Tee Home Edition to the winner.
If you have just the right idea—and one of you will—your design will transform into a living, breathing, playable hole in Golden Tee 2021. And that’s just the start.
This winner will also receive their very own Golden Tee Home Edition—a $4,000 top prize on top of the joy that comes with becoming a part of the most storied arcade game ever made. They will also have a week dedicated to them where they get to decide that week’s Monday Mix-up course and design their own Freaky Friday. Their design duties won’t simply end with their dream golf hole.
How to Submit
The very concept of the contest is both simple and familiar: create your dream golf—any par-3, par-4 or par-5—and submit it between February 18th and April 12th April 26th. We've extended the entry to April 26th to give you to extra weeks to enter your design!
You can submit as many par-3s, 4s and 5s as you like to design-a-hole@itsgames.com. Submit one. Submit 100. The more the merrier.
You can draw them, CAD them, color them, pen them, explain them—however you feel your design would be best explained and showcased is up to you/ Draw it, build it, name it and then submit it. If you do that, you have a chance at being a part of and winning the game you love.
Want to mail us your designs the good ol’ fashion way? You can do that, too. Just send them to the address below:

How our Winner Will be Decided
Once the submission period of the Design-a-Hole Contest closes, our prestigious Design-a-Hole judges—a group led by course designer and Golden Tee co-creator Jim Zielinski—will go to work.
Over the weeks that follow, these judges will sift through each and every design submitted. They will analyze distances and concepts and originality and how well each design could translate into the game.
On May 4th, we will reveal the first Design-a-Hole finalist on LIVEWIRE, Instagram and Twitter and the Golden Tee Facebook Page. For the next two weeks, we will reveal all 10 finalists and allow the many fans of this game to have their say on which designs they like best. Whether you submit or not, your feedback is critical. This will ultimately shape the next step of the process—when the judges narrow down a group of 10 to three and eventually one.
We will reveal the top 4 on May 19th, May 20th, May 21st, and May 22nd.
On May 25th, we will announce the 4th place winner. Wednesday, May 27th, the 3rd place winner will be announced.
Then we will narrow this group down one last time—crowning this year’s champion on May 29th!
So… Any Parting Advice?
Of course, and we’ll have plenty more to say in the weeks ahead.
The beauty of this contest is that you have full control in what you design—how hard, how easy, how short, how long, etc. You are the architect.
The Golden Tee judges LOVE creativity. They love thought put into a design—the risk vs. reward aspects that make a great golf hole. They love originality. But they also love simplicity, and finding a balance of creativity and playability is ultimately what they’re looking for.
Is this distance possible in Golden Tee? What about elevation? What about the location? Imagine playing the designs you create—would translate into the game you love? If so, you’re on the right track.
You don’t need to be an artist. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. Just dream up your golf holes, explain them (if you like), name them and send them to
