The first par-3 on Pelican Grove is about as straightforward of a hole as you will find in Golden Tee 2014. Distance certainly isn’t a problem, and the green is big enough to give you options with your approach.
While trees hang over the small fairway here, limiting your options ever so slightly, they should hardly ever be a concern.
Playing this hole really correctly comes down to one simple question: to spin or not to spin?
This, of course, depends a great deal on where the pin is located. If the cup is near the top of the green, you’ll likely approach it with backspin or bite (and yes you should be aggressive here.) If it’s near the bottom, right before the water, then approaching this shot without any spin at all is an option.
Obviously the only place you can’t be is long, so don’t be overly aggressive and find the water on a relatively easy shot. But being aggressive enough—whether that be spinning back or releasing forward—should be in the cards here.
So... any aces to show off?
