Player Spotlight: Sean Gervais
A brief interview with the 2026 Carolina Clash Champion

Player Spotlight: Sean Gervais – Carolina Clash Champion

Sean Gervais has been making his mark on the Golden Tee competitive scene for years, but his recent run of success is putting him firmly in the spotlight. Following an impressive performance at the Music City Madness tournament and Carolina Clash, Gervais is riding a wave of momentum and looking to carry that success into the upcoming Player of the Year tournament.

Sean's Golden Tee journey began the way it does for many players: casually competing with friends at the local bar. However, it didn't take long for him to realize he had a knack for the game.

"I'm not trying to sound cocky, but I caught on really quick and started beating everyone."

While the competition started as friendly fun, Sean began taking Golden Tee more seriously after winning the South Regional in 2005. That victory helped spark a deeper competitive drive and set the stage for years of tournament play.

These days, Sean's local Golden Tee scene revolves around the Vector Room in Texas, where the competition is anything but casual. Playing alongside fellow heavyweights Paul Luna and Burak Temel provides plenty of motivation, as all three are constantly looking to get the better of one another.

The competitive environment has given Sean an opportunity to evolve with some of the game's best. Over the years, he's picked up valuable insights and strategies by watching other players, including Chris Litzinger and Andy Haas.

Sean is also well known by his nickname “Swervais.”  Paul Luna is attributed to coining this nickname which is based off how adept Gervais is at hitting cut shots that swerve their way to the pin.

Sean's Carolina Clash victory was the result of steady play, timely opportunities, and a little bit of good fortune. His run featured several challenging matchups, but an early victory against Chris Longino helped set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

After winning that opening match that he felt he probably should have lost, Sean found himself playing with very little pressure. That confidence carried into his second matchup against Joey D'Angelo, where a few mistakes from his opponent helped Sean secure a comfortable victory.

The competition intensified in the third round against Kevin O'Connor on Carmel Coast, a course known for its potential to produce big swings. Sean made a mistake that put him a stroke behind, but he stayed composed, trusted his game, and eventually fought his way back to victory.

Next up was a familiar opponent: Andy Haas. Historically, Haas has been something of a nemesis for Sean, but this time the script was different. Sean put together a relatively clean round while Haas made a few costly mistakes, sending Gervais through to the next stage.

That set up a King of the Hill showdown with Eddie G.

With another matchup on Carmel Coast, Sean knew exactly what was required. His mindset was simple: stay clean, avoid mistakes, and let the course do the rest.

On a setup where the player making the fewest mistakes often comes out on top, patience and consistency were crucial.

The grand finale brought Neon into the picture, a relatively straightforward course outside of the challenging fifth hole. When his opponent made a mistake on that hole, Sean capitalized on the opportunity and did what he needed to do to close out the championship.

Another tournament victory was his.

Sean credits his recent hot streak over the last two tournaments to finally putting everything together, along with a little bit of luck along the way.

When it comes to playing to his full potential, however, his expectations are high.

Sean believes he should be competitive in every match he enters, with the ability to win every time he steps up to the trackball. That confidence, combined with his recent results, has him feeling great heading into the Player of the Year tournament.

His approach moving forward is straightforward: keep playing well, stay consistent, and hopefully continue riding the momentum of his recent success.

Sean also had a message for everyone who's been following his journey and cheering him on.

He's grateful for all the support and appreciates the love from the Golden Tee community. He hopes everyone continues rooting for him as he looks to keep his hot streak alive.

With a Carolina Clash championship under his belt and plenty of confidence heading into the Texas Holiday Classic and Player of the Year tournament, Sean Gervais is certainly a player to watch.
