The Clash celebrated its fifth anniversary on the National Golden Tee Tour, and what a weekend it was. Calloway’s Sports Bar & Grill in West Columbia, South Carolina, once again hosted the action for the fifth stop of the 2025 Tour and the place was buzzing from Thursday night through late Sunday night.

The weekend had everything: the Main 5-course qualifier, the annual Senior event, the entertaining Speedrun, and the doubles and handicap tournaments that have become National Tour staples. The Muse brothers, along with Chris Longino and the Power Events crew, put on another event that reminded everyone why the Carolina Clash is a must-attend stop every year.

Andy Haas claimed his third National Golden Tee Tour title of 2025, but it didn’t come easy. In the main bracket finals, he faced Paul Tayloe in what turned into an instant classic. After dropping into the loser’s bracket earlier on Sunday, Haas had to win both matches against Tayloe in the Grand Finals to take the title.

The first game went Haas’s way thanks to a few clutch hole-outs that Tayloe didn’t match. For the second game, Tayloe regrouped and came out for the true final match. Both players went shot-for-shot through 18 holes at Acoma Messa, sending the match into overtime. What followed was a back-and-forth highlight reel of near hole-outs, gasps from the crowd, and Haas encouraging fans to make some noise like he was channeling Happy Gilmore at The Masters.

It all came down to hole 14 in overtime. Tayloe laid it close to the pin, but Haas delivered a perfectly straight shot right into the cup for the win. Afterward, the two shared a moment of respect outside the venue while Haas with a cigar, Tayloe with a whiskey and discussing their iconic match. Proving that while Golden Tee is competitive, it’s also about the community that surrounds it.

In the Purple Bracket, Kyle Heasley was unstoppable. He went undefeated through the weekend, taking down some big names like 2025 World Championship runner-up Matt Woods, Senior runner-up Jody Palmer, and Andrew Baker in the finals. His win not only earned him the Purple Bracket title but also punched his ticket to the 2026 Golden Tee World Championship.

The Pink Bracket came down to Gus Benino Jr. and Charles Fridinger. Benino first beat Fridinger to become King of the Hill, but after Fridinger fought back to the finals, they went at it again for two matches. Both games were tight, but Benino held on by a single stroke in each to take the Pink Bracket crown.

The Carolina Clash is one of the few tour stops with its own Seniors event, and this year’s didn’t disappoint. Danny Scurlock came out strong, running through the bracket undefeated to reach the finals. Waiting for him was Jody Palmer, who had been pulling double duty making runs in both the Seniors and Purple brackets.

After a long wait between rounds, Scurlock stayed sharp and closed it out, beating Palmer by four strokes to claim the title and with it, a ticket to the 2026 Golden Tee World Championship.

Saturday night featured the ever-growing Speedrun event, which has become a favorite at the Carolina Clash. Eight of the fastest players from Thursday and Friday’s qualifiers battled head-to-head for the title. Among the field were Loschiavo, Sparks, Tayloe, Brown, M. Miller, M. Arrington, Hickey, and Temel.

Once again, Paul Tayloe proved why he’s the top Speedrun player in the game. He dropped an unbelievable -30 in just over six minutes on Acoma Messa, then sealed the deal in the finals against Jason Loschiavo with another blistering performance.

The Muse brothers and Chris “Gino” Longino know how to host an event. Between the competitive play, the cheering crowds, and Calloway’s top-notch staff, the weekend felt more like a celebration of the Golden Tee community than just another stop on the tour. Power Events’ Paige, Russ, and Steve ran things smoothly, even with two bonus events added to the schedule.

The Carolina Clash went late, but every champion was crowned, and everyone left with stories to tell.
