Over the past two years, a thrilling new way to compete in Golden Tee has taken the community by storm: the Golden Tee speedrun. Introduced in 2023, the format challenges players not just to play well—but to play fast.
It all began when Paul Luna completed the first-ever recorded speedrun on the course Petra, posting an impressive inaugural time of 5:59.993. The following year, the format was formalized, and the 2024 edition featured eight invited players in a high-stakes single-elimination bracket.
The course was Missouri Hills, played under locked conditions. Two-time World Champion Graig Kinzler, a seasoned veteran of the game, proved the old guard still had new tricks. He opened with a sharp 5:55.880, but it was in his very next match against Evan Gossett that he made history. Graig turned in a blistering 5:24.961, shaving over 30 seconds off his previous time and setting a new world record.
Kinzler’s time appeared untouchable—until the grand finals. There, reigning World Champion Paul Tayloe stepped up to the tee for a showdown destined for the history books. In a fierce battle, Tayloe bested Kinzler to become the 2024 Speedrun Champion, but was unable to beat the world record time.
But the tournament had one last twist.
From the crowd emerged Mike Arrington, the unexpected “final boss.” Tayloe, still riding the high of his victory, suddenly had to defend his title once more. The crowd buzzed as the two teed off again on Missouri Hills.
Tayloe surged ahead, eyes now fixed on more than a win—he was hunting a new world record. As his putt dropped on hole 18, the clock stopped at 5:11.882. The bracket winner had become the undisputed world record holder, cementing his place in Golden Tee speedrun history.
Following growing excitement from players and fans alike, Incredible Technologies has answered the call: for the first time ever, the 2025 Golden Tee Speedrun Tournament will be open entry!
This year’s challenge will take place on Bear Lodge with locked conditions. Anyone in attendance at the World Championship will have the opportunity to compete for the crown of Golden Tee’s fastest player.
Players will get 2 attempts to qualify for the top 8 single elimination bracket live in person July 17th and 18th starting at noon PST. The locked conditions code will be released Friday July 4th for players to begin playing the locked conditions course and developing strategies for the live event. This code is capped at 200 plays, players MUST ensure they do not play more than 175 attempts, or they will be unable to compete during the live event.
The top 8 fastest players from qualifying will be put into a single elimination bracket Saturday July 19th with tournament play starting around 6pm PST. This bracket will also be played on the exact same locked conditions code for Bear Lodge as the qualifiers. The only rule is the faster player will advance to the next round of the tournament, until only the fastest player remains.
Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a rising talent, this is your moment. With a stopwatch running and the pressure on, every shot counts. Can you become the fastest of them all?
We’ll find out at the 2025 Golden Tee World Championship.
