COURSE CADDIES :: Sparkling Waters :: Hole 1 :: PAR 4

Golden Tee Course Caddies are back, and we’re examining all 90 holes in Golden Tee 2015. Each day we'll examine a different design until all five courses have been covered.

This year’s breakdowns now include video of each hole being played, although your feedback is most appreciated on these designs. How do you play? Share your strategy or Golden Tee Great Shots in the comments below.

All holes will then be available for reference on the Course Caddies page—a bookmark must for the entire encyclopedia! Enjoy, and stay tuned for plenty more.

Sparkling Waters No. 1

Ah, the great outdoors. There’s nothing quite like it.

Our voyage through Minnesota’s Golden Tee wilderness starts on Hole 1 of Sparkling Waters, a classic—but lengthy—two-shot par-4. The fairway is enormous, although there’s no reason to get cute off the tee.

This hole comes down to the second shot, and you have an opportunity to be aggressive with your approach. Please keep in mind that aggressive doesn’t mean reckless. You want to go at the pin, but you also want to leave a manageable putt for birdie at the very worst.

This means you need to be careful with your spin—mainly backspin and roll. Too much of either could be problems.

And yet, you won’t get any look better than this one. Try your luck for the cup from the fairway and settle for a three at the very worst. Nothing fancy here; just take care of business.
