Hole 5 on Pearl Lagoon is quickly becoming my favorite hole. It’s not because of the overall makeup—although it’s drawn up just lovely—it’s because heinous golf shots are being handsomely rewarded, and it all makes for quality entertainment.

Sure you could go around the trees, bend your tee shot in and land safely on the green—maybe even getting your ball to spin near (or even in) the cup. That’s lovely and you should be proud of this intentional excellence.

But for a change of pace on this hole, look no further than this latest gem. Don’t bother trying to make sense of it or trying at home; neither will get you very far.
